BZBGEAR has consented to being named (2026-11-01). Product names and positioning follow the company's public presentation on bzbgear.com.

The starting point#

The client builds hardware and software for professional video production — switcher desks, camera control and accessories for studios and production companies. The control software is the product that makes the hardware usable: whoever buys a switcher desk buys the software with it.

The problem#

Control software for live production has a property you don't meet in office software: it runs in front of an audience. A bug is not a ticket but an interrupted take. At the same time, the products grow with every hardware generation — the software has to keep serving old devices and integrate new ones cleanly.

Scope: Switch Control#

Switch Control is the control software for the client's switcher desks. My contribution over the years:

  • Developing the interface and flows further — including arranging sources on switcher pages via drag-and-drop.

  • Layout and configuration options that let production setups be reused.

Scope: PTZ Camera Control#

PTZ Camera Control steers pan-tilt-zoom cameras: positions, speeds, automatic tracking.

  • Assigning and positioning cameras via drag-and-drop.

  • Automatic tracking with presenter following.

A third product (BG-Nutrix) will be mentioned once image material for it has been prepared — the legacy assets live outside this workspace.

Result#

The products are on the market and have been developed further over years with new features and hardware generations. What that means for the client, I cannot and will not claim in numbers — what is provable: the collaboration continues, and the software has carried several hardware generations.

What it is not: a project I "delivered" at some point. It is long-term work on products that are in use.

Cost#

Long-term development runs through fixed-price follow-up scopes and the build-out (€480/day) — never through an open timesheet. A support relationship of this shape sits at €240/month plus orders.
